Wonderful for you!! Congrats! I'm afraid to set a price on my knit and crochet baby blankets - so they just sit or get donated.

Good for you, and how nice to have such an appreciative customer. I saw some "designer" bags at a gift shop recently. They were things we here on the board make all the time. There was nothing special about them, but they were very cute and colorful. I couldn't believe the price that was on them. Hundreds of dollars. (Huh?) I need to make more bags. Maybe they'll sell mine too. (Actually, I don't want to sew for money. It would seem too much like a job if I did that, and I don't want it to be my job. But I'm happy for those of you who are successful selling your beautiful creations.)

Thank you, everyone, for your kind words. I absolutely love to quilt/sew and am ao thrilled that this note has also encouraged many of you - that was my goal!! :) I bought fabric today for two more bags with this patterm.... can't wait to get started. I do not, unfortunately have a picture of the first one yet... waiting on the mom to take one for me. I'll post it as soon as I get it. Thanks again. God IS good!! - my talent comes from him!! :)

When I quoted a price, she said, "Oh my, I could buy 3 blankets for that." Makes one wonder why they feel entitled to "free".
I think the answer for the people who think the price you charge should be little or nothing is, "It's much less than a plumber or electrician would charge to do the job." (I recently paid a plumber $70 for the 10 minutes he spent lighting our water heater.)

Yes, JoAnnB... so right. My husband and I own an appliance repair store - they make more money because of the service they provide as should we!! Not everyone can fix an appliance - not everyone can quilt/sew!

Do any of you do advertising for sewing work on this board? I think you should. Your work is beautiful.

I tend to underprice my efforts as well but when I'm doing things for friends and coworkers and I know they really appreciate and enjoy my work, I'm happy to make a small profit. I've been given more money than I ask for as well, and gift cards, and cookies, and taken out to lunch and so on which is just as nice.
