Great idea! I was thinking of doing a tile trivet
with the plates. I use DH grandma's dishes every day. This would be a great way to save a few pieces. Then I can switch to the other grandma's dishes till I run out of them too. We've had them better than 20 years, time to use them.

Even a cup and saucer would be pretty. Why would I do that I am sure you are asking. Well I haven't used them in years, too much work--can't be put into dishwasher. Not hand washing dishes for 15 people. My daugher would never be bothered with using them so when I am gone they will probably go to goodwill or maybe they would sell them to an antique shop. Why not do something that others will enjoy? I just thought I also have some single cup teapots that were my gr aunts (grandma's sister) that might make a cute one too. My goodness you sure have my wheels turning. Not good when I am ready to go to bed. LOL
Candy---good for you!

I'm having the same thought as I have grandma's from the early 20's as well and I have no children to leave them to.

Lovely--a treasure too, because it was made by Mom.
