Needle Education

I was one who always thought you just used the same needle for everything. Boy, was I wrong. Here are some links to Schmetz needle website and some different things to learn about needles. Very educational.

And I used th think you used a needle until you broke it. One time ,a long time ago, I decided to replace a needle even though it hadn't broken. I was amazed at how dull and flat the end of it was. Now I replace the needle a lot more often and keep spare needles with my machine. :D

Thanks for this link. It's great information. I learned that the needle and thread size are the most important factors in quilting, especially for free motion quilting. I recently switched to titanium coated needles. They stay sharp much longer than regular needles so are a better value for the money and my stitches look better too. I never buy needles off the rack unless I have a coupon. I buy most of them online. I like Organ needles the best and Schmetz needles are excellent if your machine likes them.
