Grandmother's Flower Garden (GFG)
#1
I'm in the process of making a GFG, very traditional, with flower petals around the yellow center, then a ring of white, and then connected by a ring of green. How do I quilt this one? I've spent so much time sewing hexagons together by hand, so I plan to quilt by hand also. Any suggestions about quilting?

When I made a small flower garden once, I quilted 1/4" inside the edge of each hexagon. Most of them I'm seen were done this way or in the ditch.
Your quilt sounds lovely Helen! I hope you'll show it to us one of these days.

This quilt is one of my UFO's. I plan to hand quilt 1/4" inside the hexagons. I have a full size hand made top from my husbands grandmother which is in my UFO stash also. I don't think I have enough years left to do all the projects on my list.

How do you plan to finish the edges. My husbands grandmothers is the tradition patterns also, which leaves the edges scalloped. The backing would have to be cut in the same manner, turned under 1/4" all around the edges?
Do you have any suggestions?
