I am using the needleturn method to applique a baby quilt, but as it is going to get lots of wear and tear I thought I would also do some fancy edging, not only to make it stronger but to emphasise certain outlines. I intend using a fly stitch and blanket stitch, but what other quick and easy hand stitches has anyone used?

Echo quilting on the applique will really hold it together a long time.

Blanket stitch would be a really secure stitch to use...otherwise maybe quilting 1/4" on the inside of applique pieces...that would avoid the seam allowance so it wouldn't be as hard to quilt through.
