Default Hand quilters - wool batting

Have any of you quilted with wool batting? How does it needle?

i used the hobbs heirloom wool batting and it needled like a dream. i was wary about the first washing, but it held up better than the cotton in terms of shrink or whatever. i don't know if better is the right word though; where the cotton shrank and gave me that slightly puckered look so longed for in a lot of quilts, the wool stayed true to size.

the wool quilt is really warm and super cozy, probably due in part to the heavy quilter's flannel used on the back. but it was great to hand stitch!

these pictures are from today, well after the first wash and more than a year of regular use on the bed:

Love it to quilt!
Love it to sleep under!
Love how it feels and drapes!
Love how it washes!
Can't say enough good about wool batting!

Agree with the three previous posts - needles like you are going through butter. Still quilting so not sure how warm and cuddly it will be to sleep under. Haven't tried the silk battening yet, but everything I read indicated that it was great for hand quilting.

wool batting is my all time favorite batting- for hand work, for machine work, for all of my bed sized quilts- it is a dream to work with, washes up beautifully, is lightweight, lofty, soft, drapes beautifully, needles beautifully- i use it often

I love to work with wool batting! In fact, I have a bed-sized quilt all basted and it's football season and too cool outside to play around comfortably: Guess what I'll be doing this afternoon!!!

Wool batting needles like butter. It is awesome for hand quilting. The Quilters Dream wool batting is pre-felted....so no worries there!

Better, in my opinion.
