    @kayday, when hand quilting it's usually a single thread and not doubled.

    I always use single thread. Looks fine. I only double thread when I am basting something.

    Single thread is used for hand quilting. You can also buy a beeswax thread conditioner to run your thread through before using it. It really helps it from tangling on itself and it is pleasant to work with.

    I know people have issues with Coats and Clark, but I inherited a small box ( 5 spools) of Coats & Clark hand quilting thread that's been great. I use plain old beeswax as a thread conditioner. I've let all my friends know that when that box is gone, my hand-quilting days are done!
