Here are the blocks I have done so far for the grandmothers fan in Blue and White. I am only making a lap quilt. I have tried putting the fabrics beside the blocks for sashing. I did not like the results. Here are two layouts that I am looking at. Would like your votes on what you would do. Keep in mind that this is mainly for my Son even though it is a gift to both he and his wife.

I think I like the first one better. The balance of the second design feels a little off.

I agree, i like the first one very much. I will be working on a blue and white gf next and your blocks are inspiring!

Think about their house. I might do a tiny black border then a 3 or 4 inch border of the speckled white and blue for a contemporary look. Let us see what you decide.

I like the ones on point better. The fans positions look more natural that way. The other way look awkard to me. Either way the fans a beautiful.
