Have you ever attached your binding......
#11
I've seen the videos but haven't had the courage to try it. I don't hate sewing the binding on the sewing machine and finishing by hand, but it makes sense to use the longarm to save time, because pushing a big quilt through the sewing machine is tiresome. Thanks for the endorsement for using this method. Maybe I'll try it on the next quilt.

Since I prefer to sew my bindings to the back and then topstitch down on the front side, I've never looked into doing it on the LA.
I use the back of my LA table to lay out the quilt (one side at a time) and trim it, then I take it in the house and sew on the binding to the back, flip it and topstitch it to the front. Even a king size quilt does not take very long to get a binding on. I'm one that use to hate binding, and now it is no big deal.

I have a longarm, but I do not like to add the binding while the quilt is on the frame. Like was mentioned above, I square up the quilt after it is quilted so it is not possible to have attached the binding first.
I think it is ok to use this method for charity quilts. As I say this, I am cringing!! I do feel we should do our best work on not only on our own quilts, but on charity quilts as well.
