I ask if there's a theme for the baby's room and go from there

I chose the Fabric, but I offered SOME colour choice.

Made 2 this year... asked mother for colors or theme they were using and I chose from that... one chose a theme of wild animals for children and the other left it up to me... the one I chose I used a panel and bright colors and designed it on EQ ... came out great... she loves it...
Found out I need 2 more so far this next year...they're keeping me busy

I just finished two. Pastel pink, green and yellow. Two Granddaughters expecting girls in the spring.

I usually choose bright fabrics and don't worry about any theme that the parent might have. I tell them that it is not an heirloom and is meant to throw on the floor for baby to play on, or to carry along when going places. And as I've said many times before, I add a little note that this quilt can be played on, puked on, peed on, and puked on then washed and dryed and it's ready for sleepy time and play time again.

Yes, I finally got back to making my standard crib quilt. Have 3 finished and 3 more in the works. They are quick and easy. Interesting fabric for the top and sandwiched and binding finished by hand while watching tv. They are for hard use and not heirlooms. They are not patchwork or applique but just single fabric top.

I love making baby quilts. I have a few tops on hand right now that are not for anyone. I hope to have many great grand babies and if I am not able to make quilts when they come I will have one for them.

I made 2 just a few weeks ago. One was aquas and the other a paisley yellow butterfly print (pink, lavender and blue)
teamed up with a pastel yellow. For the aqua patten, I used Wicked Easy, the paisley butterfly pattern, I used Twisted Rail.
Both patterns are easy. Both can be found on line for free. I always pick the material I use.

My niece, the mother to be, chose turquoise and black for the baby, Olivia, to be born on Dec. 20. I made a girly looking baby quilt with those colors and she absolutely loved it because it wasn't traditional. I tend toward traditional so it was a little out of my comfort zone but it pleased her to no end. Now back to crocheting a pink afghan for her.....lol

I have made about 10 baby quilts. I find a novelty fabric that I like and get help from my local quilt shop with the other fabrics. My daughter will find out next month if her first is a boy or girl. I will let her pick out the fabrics.
