Default Have you noticed a quality difference between older and newer fabricx?

WOW -- I just spent most of the morning going through 4 boxes of fabric that I bought pre 2005 and oh is there a difference between most of that and my later fabrics (most are LQS). The feel of most of the fabrics is wonderful -- not stiff and not coarse and they seem to be thicker.

Is this just my imagination or have you noticed it too?

Don't exactly understand your post. Are you saying the newer or older fabrics nicer?

Sorry -- my older fabrics seem to be better quality than the newer fabrics.

I do recall reading somewhere that the thread count of cotton has been reduced...and I know that the width, from sshelved ge to self edge has been changed, so you are probably correct in your observation....

Seems to be that way with a lot of things these days. And they cost more.

I have also noticed the same thing. It also applies to dress making fabrics, flannelette and stretch fabrics.

My experience seems to be quite different from yours and apparently some others answering here. My older fabric looks and feels much more flimsy than the fabric I have been buying in the last 10 years ..... but then again I have been quilting for over 30 years now.

My older fabrics are at least twice as thick as the newer fabrics.
