Have You used this needle?
I saw this needle on Schmetz site while shopping machine needles. Anyone used one? Please offer tips because I ordered one!

That would be great for FMQ because you could see exactly where your needle is positioned. I don't know if my motor skills are good enough to FMQ at a high speed but I am certainly interested in your results.

I have seen this needle on a machine and my first thought was it was too dangerous for me. Nothing around the needle to keep my fingers away but with fmq fingers shouldn't be that close but it still made me nervous. The quilter that was using it did nice fmq.

I have not used one but it would depend on how expensive it was. Some times I go quite a while without breaking a needle but others times I will break a few while FMQ. When you are controlling the stitches by how you move the sandwich, if your timing isn’t perfect, you can pull the needle over enough to hit the throat plate.

I bought a couple of these a few years ago and I liked how well you could see the stitching - I was playing around with thread painting, and you could do tiny, delicate work
But I was nervous about trying to quilt with this type of needle. I had a vintage darning spring attachment which I liked and I had my favorite little $3 hopping foot which I used as much as possible. I wish there was a similar foot that would fit my industrial machine.
