Default Have you used this?

I just heard about a product that I was not aware of, but you all are always in the know so you probably have. What I am talking about is Free Fuse by Quilters Select. I just saw it demonstrated and was shocked at the results. So have you heard of it, tried it and would you recommend this product to the rest of us. I also saw that there are other brands available but this is the one I saw demonstrated. Although the other brand had good reviews as well.

It looks interesting, the video showed her laying out the quilt top and batting on a large surface, smoothing it and sprinkled the fuse on it. Then she ironed it, worked well but how many of us have that big of an ironing surface? Not me.

I had some for a different type of project. After seeing it used for layering a quilt, I tried it. Found it fiddly/ackward and will stick with 505 basting spray. I use 505 sparingly and a few pins. But I seldom quilt anything bigger than a sofa throw. Just my 2 cents.

I like it. It is not as messy as the spray. For large quilts I put up two or three folding tables and it's easy to press the layers together. I don't use anything to cover the tables when I press baste the quilt. Been press basting for years and the table tops haven't been damaged at all. I use the tables that fold in half making it easy to store them anywhere.

my only concern with the fuse is that it's rather pricey

I saw that the brand I referred to is almost $20 but I also saw that there is another product that is supposed to be very similar and if I remember correctly it was half the price. Walmart, MSQC and I think there was one more place that had the other product and it had good reviews.
