Default Heard a rumor

The rumor is MS could take over Accuquilt. Remember Accuquilt was sold to an equity company that resells businesses. Ms now has Accuquilt products to sell, testing the waters? Well it will be $5 shipping so that's one of the perks.

Does selling to an equity company mean Accuquilt isn't doing well?

I don't think it means that necessarily. I think maybe the owners just want to retire or something. Those companies usually just buy up business to make a profit and then mess up the company in my experience. Quality seems to go down and prices up.

I think it's funny that everyone reading this understands that by MS you mean Missouri Star, but outside the quilting world MS would mean MicroSoft.

I had to think of it but yes, got it as Missouri Star. They do tend to buy out things to sell themselves. Not bad if you can do it.

Sorry, just assumed every quilter knows about Missouri Star. Accuquilt was sold over a year ago and the quality seems the same but prices went sky high and customer service went dirt deep. Speaking MS the flash sales have been fantastic and QIAD warehouse flash sales are excellent too. (Quilt in a Day)

Hope I don't muddy the waters here, but WILsquare Capital, a St. Louis based firm, bought Accuquilt's parent company "TekBrands" in 2021. Did they divide off again and sell Accuquilt to Missouri *? Did Missouri * buy out all of TekBrands, or simply the Accuquilts? At this point I'm confused...LOL I'm originally from St. Louis, now existeing in Iowa.

The most recent official news on Accuquilt is that it, as a subsidiary of TekBrands, owned by WILsquare Capital, completed the acquisition of the June Tailor company in August 2023

WILsquare Capital Expands Quilt and Craft business

I will say that while searching for this, I had a number of "hits" for AI-written (ChatGPT) "news articles" that were completely incorrect rehashes of the original Accuquilt acquisition, yet published in the last few months. I could see where those could start a rumor...
