Default Hand stitching after binding is on - Can I do it?

I just quilted a Halloween quilt (my first one to quilt myself too). It is a nine patch with a couple of solid squares on each row. I will post a picture later, I am at work now. I am ready to bind, but I really want to do a spider web design in the solid blocks. Right now I just have a big X in them. I am not confident to try this on the machine, so I had the idea to hand stitch them. but I will never be finished by Halloween. So can I bind it now, display for Halloween and hand stitch the large blocks as time permits? What do you think?

Thanks for any advice and opinions.

I don't think you'll have a problem hand stitching with the binding on. Go for it!

That should not be a problem. You could use a permanent fine line pen to make the cobweb over the x you already have there.

Not an issue whatsoever. Been there done that on a Christmas table topper.

Sure you can display it and hand quilt the web in later. The X quilting will hold it together fine until you can get it finished.
