Hand stitching binding or sashing question
Hi. I'm going to be using a quilt as you go method on my current project. I'm wondering what type of thread you all suggest for stitching the binding or sashing on. Is the thread not placed on the needle doubled? I mean is the needle threaded with a single strand and knot, with the other end of the tread loose?
When using QAYG do you find the horizontal, longer, sashing difficult to sew on? I'm thinking it might be awkward to wrestle with to keep it on the row of blocks...
Also, I'd like to thank everyone who encouraged me to stick with paper piecing, I really enjoy it! I'll post pictures when I'm done.
Thanks

I don't hand sew sashing, but for binding I use Aurifil 50/2 cotton thread run through wax, single strand with the knots tucked between the top of the quilt & the binding.
Jonny Breyer has an amazing free class on Craftsy with a section on hand piecing. It's the 2015 Block of the Month class.
