A friend just called and is having a problem sewing her pieces together after using heat and bond.
She said that she used it on a pattern just like this one before and never had any problems. She has cleaned her machine. changed her needle etc. When she starts to sew the top piece just slides down and apparently is not going through the foot. Help

there are different types of heat and bond. is it the lite she bought that can be sewn through? first ask that.

She needs to look at the Head and Bond package. If it's the Ultrahold, it is not designed to be sewn through.

It should say on the package whether it can be sewn through or not. As nativetexan pointed out, there are different types of Heat and Bond.

​It does need to be Heat and Bond lite for sewing through. She might be able to use the buttonhole stitch to go around her appliqué because most of the stitch will be on the background.

Hi lillybeck. I agree with Tartan. There are different kinds of Heat & Bond and your friend needs to be sure that she bought the lite !!

it may be the foot she is using. I can't think of anything else. what kind of fabric is she trying to sew through? perhaps that is the culprit.

Has she tried a new needle?

Edit: Sorry, reread the initial post and see that she did change the needle. It could still be a bad needle, though; they tend to come in batches.
