Pinwheel blocks are always great for kids.

Lots of interesting ideas here. My suggestion is the border of pinwheels or maybe flying geese. Either would coordinate very nicely if you use the colors from the panel. By the way, that is very pretty panel.

how about a border with a friendship star. not to difficult and you can get your width with it.

I would add 3 different size borders in colors to match those in the panel. ( 3 inch, 4 inch & 5 inch )

Nice panel - a good reason to go fabric shopping. I'm sure you'll find something that will just say "buy me". Good suggestions so far.

Check out Pandora-Botanic-Gardens-Fracture.pdf. This one is on my wish list to do someday.

Since the top and bottom of the panel already have a narrow red, and a narrow yellow border, I would try to find a blue that is similar to the center of the panel with gold stars in it and then add a narrow red/beige candy stripe for a narrow border and bind it in red. That is an adorable panel. I also like the idea of trying to find the fabric that matches the panel but that would mean the panel was bought very recently.

What about using the checkerboard idea from the rainbow on the panel? Use white as the main color and alternate the colors from the others. It would be a bit of piecing, but I think it would really be awesome when finished.

Pinwheels or even cute little bear paw blocks in red/white/blue would be cute and then a final border.

My idea was a row of stars top and bottom to add height. If you want width as well continue stars or pinwheels all round panel.
