can anyone remember the name of the quilt pattern that uses quarter fans for the wings and bows to make the butterfly body?
i think it was in McCalls Quilt patterns or quilters connections?

    Mickey:

I don't know the name, but I made a quilt like this using Marti Michell's Dresden Plate templates #8965. The pattern was included with the templates. Hope this helps.

I found a picture of this quilt here:

    http://hazelruthes.blogspot.com/2008...uilt-show.html

That may give you a starting point to finding the pattern.

I asked a quilting buddy of mine who has taken class and is an authorized quilt appraiser. She looked in Barbara Brackman's book and found nothing... she has never seen the pattern before in anything she has looked at. She thinks that your quilt is from the 1920's or 1930's based on just the small photo I sent her. My bet is the person who made it... made up her own pattern....

This quilt pattern was entered in a 2008 Idaho quilt show so it must be a known pattern to some. It's so pretty!
