I want to make a twin size storm at sea for my grandson. My skills are beyond beginner ( though my confidence is not), but certainly not advanced. I have chosen 3 batiks to work with, 4 yds each. Can anyone direct/lead me to a tutorial that is not too confusing? Thank you in advance.

Do you paper piece? I have found that is the easiest way to storm at sea. I will be watching this thread as I always end up having to do a king and that's ALLOT of printing!

It is pretty simple if you pp it. there is a link (or at least was) with a diagram of a SAS so you can color it in and get a visual of how it will look at the end, especially if you move from one color to another.

I made a storm at sea using tri-recs rulers. Worked great! Here's a tute - but not for the full SAS block unfortunately, but the rulers do come with instructions. http://www.simplicity.com/t-tutorial...lic-Tools.aspx

I am curently working on this pattern now. It's a paper pieced pattern, and so easy. I got the pattern from this website.

I have not pp, yet. I'm sort of leaning in that direction because I understand you get great accuracy in seams & points. I'll check out those rulers, as well. QuiltersCache is a website I visited and I liked what I saw. Now, I just need to decide which method to use and "bite the bullet." Thank you for all of your input. This board is great!
