Gladys I don't know how to help you about the smell of the cutting mat, but I really have to know how you got the avatar you have. I just love it. I even have a cat that color and would love to put in on my facebook page. Thanks Ps Good luck on the odor!!

If your mat is unusable due to the smell, I don't think this is going to hurt it anyway. Peroxide is good for cleaning and so is baking soda...if you can maybe soak a couple towels in the mixture and lay your mat in the middle of them for a few hours, (don't let them dry out) then rinse well.
Can't hurt to try :-o

It must be the material they use to make them??

I'm clueless, but to get skunk smell out of a dog you combine hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and a tiny amount of dish liquid. It works....ask how I know LOL! Maybe wiping the mat with a cloth dampened with the above mixture?

ConnieSue, I got that off the web somewhere. I think I looked up animated avatars...I love it. Hope you can find it.
