Default Help:- idea to include cross stitched work in quilt

    Hi
Daughter has done some cross stitch work that she wanted to be included in a baby quilt. The 9 squares are approximately 4.5in squares. My question is what type of design I should use in the quilt. Was thinking of log cabin design. The cross stitch design is from EMS zoo animals.
    Any ideas will help.
    Thanks

Using then in the center of Log Cabin would work. I would put a matching solid piece of fabric behind each square so the little holes in the cross stitch wouldn't have the batt showing.

I've seen cross stitch blocks incorporated into quilts a number of times, but I've never seen one after being washed.

I've seen redwork (all colors floss) blocks where the floss colors have run, and I'm wondering how the mesh would appear after wash.

Were it me, on a baby quilt which will be washed innumerable times, I'd do a full block test swatch with a throw away sample to see the outcome.
