I am working on a Notre Dame quilt for my hubby. I found a reverse applique technique that calls for tagboard.

Can someone tell me what that is?

Can I use something else in place of it, like a manilla folder or thin cardboard from a cereal box?

It's 150 lb. paper. You could also look for oak tag (that's what it used to be called when I was a kid). I would think a manilla folder or thin cardboard would work.

Tag board is what manila folders are made from.
