Default HELP!!! Need help on a New Home Model 552

DIL has her Mother's New Home Model 552 sewing machine, has no manual on it and we are trying to turn the knob on top to change from striaght stitch to ZZ and other stitches. Is there a trick to this??? Also, do you know where we could get a manual? I have looked on internet and can't find a place that carries that model. Thanks

Default Using decorative stitching on new home 552

I hope someone's already posted this, but all you have to do is turn the dial from AUTO to OFF. Then set you stitch and turn it back to AUTO. If you are using a SUPER AUTOMATIC stitch, you will need to set lever at the top to super automatic while the dial is turned to OFF. Hope this helps.
