Default Help needed, adding to a square

I have a block that is 10 1/4 by 10 1/2' and I want it to be 12 1/2 to add to a quilt. I need suggestions. It is a block that is printed.

Add 2" border all the way around then center 12 1/2" ruler & trim all the way around.

Do you have a fabric that matches the white border .... or something similar to it? I would be tempted to add a white border wide enough to meet your requirements to two sides giving the block a shadow appearance. I'm sure you will receive many suggestions that will give you options. Good luck!

What kind of quilt are you adding it to? I would add a 2" finished border in fabric that fits in with the rest of the quilt.

cute block... i'd add generous borders and then square it up in a wonky design. here's an example http://funthreads.blogspot.com/2012/...onky-tilt.html

I'd be tempted to cut off existing borders and trim off top/sides to get it to square. Then sash/border with something appropriate to either the block or the quilt you want to put it into.

I agree with this. You will never notice that one dimension is 1/4" different than the other.

I would cut a 3" strip the diameter of the square. On the short sides I would sew the strip as close to the outside of the brown edge without going over. On the longer sides, (if you can adjust your needle on your machine it would be great,) I would sew a tad inside so that when you sew it will be just enough that you could not notice you shrunk it. Then cut to 12.5".

Forgot to add: 3" strip diameter of square PLUS seam allowances.
