When I select the embroidery function, the USB tab does not light up. Should it be lit all the time or only when you insert a USB stick?

Hmm, it's a while since I did some embroidery on mine, but I am fairly sure it only lights up with the stick in place, so that you can access what's on the stick.

Yes, you have to plug in a stick before the icon is selectable.

Thanks - now if only I had a stick that would work in my machine I could test that out!!!
