I received an email with John Deere fabric. My 3 year old grandson loves John Deere. I want to make a twin size quilt for him. There is a panel I would like to use. Can I get some advice on how much fabric to order? I don’t have a pattern but would like to use the panel. Would 1 yard each of 3 or 4 different fabrics be enough? I also need backing but I can figure that out.
Thanks for your help.

A typical size for a twin quilt is 70x90. That's 6300 square inches, or about 4 1/2 yards of 40" wide fabrics, if you were just sewing 40" strips of fabric together with no design at all. So at a minimum you would need about 4 yards of fabric to add to the panel. In reality, you really need to know what pattern you're going to use. Chances are you will want some of the fabrics to be solids or blends, and the proportion of these to the JD fabrics will vary depending on the pattern. And don't forget about binding!

Many of the fabric makers have web sites and patterns you can download to make the panels into a quilt. Check to see if your panel maker has a pattern made up for you. When I went to look at the panels for you, there were quite a few different ones. All different sizes and shapes.
If you show a pic of the one you are thinking of using, perhaps someone would help you plan it out.
Also, some unrelated subject panels are so similar in size, you could use that download pattern of another panel to finish off the tractor one. (If that makes any sense).
