Default Help with reverse and Certain Sitches Brother CE5000PRW

Ok...I love my Brother CE5000PRW...I have had it about 8 or 9 years and never had issues...until this year. The machine "forgot" how to sew in reverse. Instead, it seems to sew in place when I press the reverse button. The handle /wheel originally got stuck so I opened it up, cleaned/oiled it. I then had issues with the timing of the needle and it hitting the needle plate and it not picking up the thread from the bottom...but I played around with it and fixed it. I did notice that a spring was hanging between 2 white plastic gears that connect the reverse mechanism & I can't figure out where it goes and if this is the missing key to why my reverse is not working and why any other stich where it needs to go backwards doesn't work. Electronic displays are fine...circuit boards look fine. Everything mechanical works with the exception of this. If you have this machine and are able to open it up, I just need to see where this spring goes with these gears. I regret not taking pictures as I pulled things apart. Or if anyone has any advice, please post it. Thanks!!!

I have a Brother 1500 and the reverse lever has a spring. I had to take it to the shop to get reattached because I couldn't reach it. I think all Brothers have the spring.

I finally figured out where the spring goes. Never noticed the grooves...one gear has a depression on the top and 2nd gear has a depression on the bottom...and I think the spring attaches both gears together. And yes...it's hard to get in the small space to attach the spring but I will give it a try! Thanks for the quick reply!
