I LOVE the Jenny Doan tutorial on using the layer cakes. Another one to add to my bucket list! If I live until I finish everything I want to do, I'll be a REALLY old lady! Thanks for sharing. You guys are the best!

Many of the fabric manufacturers do have quilt patterns on their websites showing ways to use their fabrics and precuts.
I really think the Double Slice is a fantastic and easy quilt to make using the layer cakes or just cutting your own 10" blocks. The tutorial video is clear and easy to follow!

Missouri Star Quilting has a great pattern tutorial called "Double Slice". It's simple and it doesn't require contrast. Here it is: http://quiltingtutorials.com/all/dou...uilt-tutorial/
I've done the same thing, but sliced it three times in each direction. I don't use straight cuts - instead I cut at an angle.
Hope this helps!

I am horrible at buying precuts and extra yardage and expecting to find a "perfect" pattern to go with it later and I never seem to. I have so many layer cakes siting around. Like you, I like to have the pattern in my hand and know what I need. I don't know why I went on that kick and bought all the precuts with extra yardage. Hopefully, someday I will figure something to do with it all.

Layer Cales make great 10 minute blocks. Google "10 minute blocks" for the pattern. It's fast and easy and uses the whole piece of fabric. If you don't have fabrics that are contrasting in your layer cake you may need to cut a few from your stash.
