Default Historical Quilt Blocks

Hi, I'm going to be making a Quilt of Valor for a good friend that was in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. I would like for his quilt to have some meaning. So far as far as quilt blocks pertaining to Navy, I've found the Mariner's Compass. Are there any other quilt blocks that anyone knows about that I can incorporate into his Quilt of Valor. I'm going to have some star quilt blocks in it, and too, if there is a history to the quilt block, I'd like to put it into the journal that I will write to my friend as I make his Quilt of Valor. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've already got things researched for the QOV I'm doing for a friend that is a Veteran from the Army. I found the Army Star quilt block. I've not found the history on that quilt block yet, still looking. Thank you, Nata

I googled US Navy quilt block and came up with Marcia Hohn"s (of Quilters Cache) Navy Star block.

I would look at Google and see if something inspires you. You need to evaluate your quilting skills to what works best for you to make. Sometimes fabric will speak NAVY more than an actual pattern:

The five pointed bisected star is often referred to as a Nautical star. Here is a link to a free paper pieced pattern for it

Is it just me or did anyone else have trouble getting feline fanatic's page to open? All I got was lots of pretty pink.

sorry everyone, apparently the page is now broke. The owner of the site has a message up that she is aware of the problem and working on it.
