I just received an e-mail from Hoffman fabrics, saying that they are going to debut a 3-D fabric at Market next weekend.

Here is a picture, plus their advertising text:

"Wear a pair of special 3-D glasses and this dynamic screenprint group will indeed be Coming At You! Imagine the fun and creativity your favorite little ones will enjoy seeing butterflies (#J8611), space ships (#J8610) and underwater sealife (J8612) so close it's like they can reach out and touch them.

In addition to a free pattern for a 59" X 72" quilt project, we'll be offering a free pattern for a youngster-friendly quillow (a twin-size quilt that folds into a pillow!) from our website."

I wonder what this will look like if you're not wearing 3D glasses??

All I see is green leaves and butterflies nothing else oh and a black background. Is that all I should be seeing?

I see the same thing, which is most likely all you see unless you have the 3-D glasses like Carrie has.

I think it's a neat idea, but then everyone will need the 3-D glasses to really appreciate the fabric and the fun things you could do with it.

The butterflies look like they are fluttering their wings and the colors become a bright and metallic looking. The leaves become brighter and the yellow on the leaves stands out a whole lot more. You all have got to get a pair of cheap 3-D glasses and look at this. I can just imagine what the price is gonna be but I would love to have some.

Without the glasses, the fabric is really nice!

Will be interesting what the pattern will be that they have to go with it.

I tried the link as I was curious how one makes them ... didn't work!

Love it! Can't wait to see the rest of the line and hopefully it won't be too expensive. Used my DGS's 3D glasses but think the effect would be even greater if the fabric was in my hand! Absolutely gorgeous fabric though.

I guess I'm getting really old because I think this is pretty useless. Who goes around the house wearing silly 3D glasses? Ack.

That was my first thought too! But I tried looking at it through my 3D glasses and couldn't see any difference... :?

I tried with some 3-D glasses as well, and no difference. Hmm...

There must be something wrong with your glasses because mine made the colors more intense and pop out of the fabric. I pinky swear it did!!

 Mine are the ones you get when you go and see a 3D film at the pictures. (I think that translates to 'a 3D movie at a movie theatre' in American!)

Mine came in a DVD that you buy at the store and use at home. I wonder if that makes a difference.

I have lots of 3D glasses! Saved from many of the 3d movies I use to take the kids to. Then you could keep the glasses. It's a good idea but I don't think kids will care enough to wear the glasses to see it after the first view. All the kid movies are 3D now and it's nothing new to them.
