I think that speed number just let's you know the "strength" of the motor.......I'm just guessing....don't know what the spm on a reg DM is....

I will be celebrating my third winter with my Janome 6600 and feel it has been the best purchase for all of my quilting and sewing needs. I bought it locally and other than the idea of getting a long arm someday, I haven't even considered another machine or upgrade.

That's what I've been told. Because if you're a "speedster" with the quilting, and the motors not a strong one, you can ruin it. That's what my lqs long armer people have said.. I can't speak to that personally however.

I love my Juki 2010q. It is a real workhorse and the free motion is
just great. The price is around $1000. I highly recommend it.
