I use the Super Shuttle. Only downside is you stop at many different hotels for pick ups especially when going back to the airport. Allow extra time going back so your trip doesn't end with a stressful ride worrying about getting there on time. Have fun and remember to wear your most comfortable shoes. Lots of walking and shopping.

Oh, yes! That's very important. Wear comfortable shoes and take an extra bag for purchases. There are places on the floor at the show and upstairs where you can check a bag so you don't have to carry everything with you all day. It only costs a dollar. I take along an extra bag just to use for that. I find I'm so much less tired at the end of the day if I haven't been toting and heavy bag full of stuff I've bought for a few hours every day.

Once you figure out the transportation - you will love it. Went for the first time last year and it was great. Even my non quilting sister and brother in law loved it!

It is amazingly impressive even for non quilters. I live in Houston, so I go every year. In 2001, my husband went with me one afternoon to help another friend break down her booth. All of the 911 quilts were on display as well as the others. He couldn't believe what people could do with fabric. I think he even enjoyed it! lol

I would contact the hotel you are staying at. Some of the hotels have shuttles that run to and from the airport. I always rented a car and stayed at a friend's house. Just be sure you have a good pair of walking shoes and don't forget your camera!

Wear comfortable shoes and have a great time! You probably already know this, but no rolling carts are allowed, but there is a place to check bags when you don't want to carry around purchases. You should have no trouble getting around and you will meet tons of other quilters from all over.

It was more affordable than a taxi.

You can always call the hotel directly and ask if they do offer shuttle service.
I would first call the hotel and make sure they do not provide a shuttle service. If they don't, I would definitely make reservations with Super Shuttle. I live in Houston and have used them going back and forth to both airports. I have had excellent service and great drivers. The only time I had a problem was one Christmas when there was a giant snowstorm out west that messed up flights and arrivals - had to wait an extra 30 minutes on the Houston end because
everyone's scheduled times were off but I felt that was understandable and they were working as fast as possible to get everyone to their destinations. While some passengers were "testy" (being polite with that word!), the agents never lost their composure.

Since I live in Houston, I get to go to Festival every year. Definitely follow the recommendations for comfortable shoes, clothing, and cameras. I hope you have a great time!

I agree with Peckish. One person going from airport to hotel, it's cheaper to go Super Shuttle. Both airports in Houston have plenty of options available for you.

    Have a great time!

Ed: Sorry, I should read more carefully! Change that to, share a cab!

Thanks for the advice from all!
The hotel has confirmed that they do not provide an airport shuttle. We are considering both the super shuttle and the taxi( as there are 3 of us, it may be cheaper). I did see that there is a discount code for quilt show attendees, so I'm going to look into both options.
I've been "voluntold" to make all the arrangements!
