I have received a some large red work squares, from the 1950's. I would like to work them into a quilt, but first I need to clean them and remove some unidentified stains.
Does anyone know how I can clean them without causing the red to bleed?

Not saying any of these will work since I have not tried them yet, but I have a very similar problem. Mine are not as old (from early 70's) and are hand embroidered but have stains and dirty. Here is a link to my post from a few days ago and the responses that I got. Hope this helps.
