How do you quilt a panel?
I just purchased two panels....my first ever panels....and I am now wondering how to quilt them. I just want to make them into wall hangings, but need to be able to wash them. Do you simply outline the objects in the picture? Is cross hatching too much quilting that it would disrupt the picture? I got these from MSQC and one is just an overall red background (with silver and white snowflakes) and a red Christmas tree. My first thought was to outline the tree and then follow the garland lines....but the background has me stumped. How do you quilt a panel that is just a picture?

I do tend to outline stitch the features on a panel. If it is going to be a wall hanging, then you can quilt the background how you like. Perhaps just add extra snowflakes to meet the quilt batt requirements.

It depends on the print. Sometime if a is pastel in nature, you can cross hatch it without any distraction. Usually I have outline the items in the panel. You could unwind thread drizzling it onto the panel to see what thread would work best.
