Default Rag Quilters :)

For those of you who make rag quilts, what would or do you charge?

I've had 2 people in the last 3 days ask me what I would charge. The 1st person wants 2 of them, she would be providing the fabric for both - king and queen sizes. The 2nd one, I'll provice the fabric for a twin size. I have no idea what to charge for each. Need advice please.

TIA,

Sharon

Hmm, good question. I've seen them on Etsy from $200 to $450 for queen and king. Average for twin is $175
You have to keep in mind how many squares you'll be cutting and clipping. I would do $200 for the queen/king since they are supplying the fabric (batting too?) and $175 for the twin.

I'm not really sure though, hopefully someone else can chime in who has sold them.

I would price them around what they do on etsy. That's how I figure most of my prices. I've never made a big one like that. That is alot of cutting!!!

It sounds like a lot of cutting. The only rag quilt I made was a log cabin. I didn't use any batting, just the 2 layers of flannel. I hope you can make enough to pay you for your labor.

I don't use batting either.

I use 3 layers of flannel and a king/queen size would be a real workout to clip that monster...I would charge at least 200 with materials supplied on them and if I was supplying the fabrics on the twin it would be at least 200 ..possibly more depending on the costs of the fabrics

I can't help you with the pricing, but my hands hurt just thinking about it! I made my sick older brother one made out of denim and barely got him covered before my hands died. Won't do another....

I'd see what size blocks they want. I use my accuquilt 8in rag cutter and it makes life so much easier. I make different ones a head of time and then when I need a quilt I go thru my stack to get the right pattern and color and join them and I'm done. Very easy and simple
