I am making my first quilt, a rag quilt. I have the strips of blocks sewn into the rows and for all the sewing through that step of the process I used a raspberry pink threat color. I do not have enough of the pink thread to finish the quilt (to sew all the rows together, etc. Would it be ok to use white (the fabrics are different shades of pink, a little white and black). I'm thinking since it is a rag quilt you won't see much of the seams anyway . . . ?????

I know the obvious answer is go to the store and get more thread LOL I am making this for my daughter and would like to give it to her tomorrow and I work . . . I don't have the time at all today to go get the thread and I hope to finish the quilt tonight.

I use neutral threads to sew mine, and I don't even notice the color of the thread.

I don't think the thread color is going to matter. Even if a bit shows? It will look like an additional design element :D:D:D

Thanks for the info. I have my blocks in individual rows and tonight I will sew the rows together, snip snip snip, and wash. I know it isn't perfect but not bad for my first one I figure. I'm excited that I should probably have it down by the time my DD gets back from outdoor school. She will be so excited!

Once the tags start to get all raggy, your sewing line doesn't show at all.

Three colors of thread will work for most all of your quilting blocks: Off-white, Taupe, and Black

These colors will blend into most all of the blocks you sew. The color I use most is taupe. By using these 3 colors, you can keep plenty of bobbins filled ahead of time, so you don't have to stop and refill a bobbin in the middle of the project.

The only time I use a specific color is when I am sewing on top of the quilt where color matching is important.

once it is clipped and washed seams will not show, frayed edges show, it does not matter what the color of your piecing thread is.
