Army brat, born in Germany while dad was stationed there. Moved around a lot to aged 10, then moved to Alaska in 1970. Yes, it was a state by then! Moved to the Seattle area in 1984, been here ever since.

I don't get to travel much and I've lost most of it, but I took 3 years of college Japanese and used to be pretty proficient. I can still understand broadcasts in the airport because that's mostly flight numbers and basics. I still know my "ten terms to take me around the world" which includes Please, Thank you, Say it again slower, How much is it?, and Where is the bathroom? Those last two are very important!
