How many paper piecers are here?

I like paper piecing. I learned using Carol Doak's patterns and method. My avatar is a mystery quilt she posted to the list last year. I just recently finished it.
Carmen, your blocks are beautiful. I love your color combinations.

PP is the way to go - especially when one does not have a 1/4" foot! If tearing off paper is a problem, try a smaller stitch length, tracing paper, or foundation fabric (aka muslin).
Searching internet for "paper piecing" finds several tutorials. For free patterns, I like paperpanache.com, blockcentral.com and quilterscache.com.
And yes, the pillow was paper pieced.

I have been PP for about six years now and have worked on every size from Christmas oraments to a Wedding Ring for our son's marriage. A friend started out when I quit work and joined the community quilting guild. I find that I use up all those little scapes so now I can not even discard even the smallest piece of material. It is like prying them out of hands now. I trade scapes with the ladies in our guild so we don't always see the same pieces.

I love paper piecing too, A good cheap source for the paper is a visit to your local newspaper office and ask for news print paper (unprinted, of course). They usually have ends of rolls that they will give you. I stack about five pieces of paper and staple them, then copy the pattern on the machine without thread. Or, if you need only one or two, you can mark with a pencil.

I LOOOVE paper piecing. One year I made a quilt for each of my 4 grandchildren for Christmas. Three of them were paper pieced. I ran out of time so the fourth one was a rail fence made out of sports and car fabrics - bet you can guess what this kid liked. I have made wall hanging of all sizes and difficulty. And I keep finding more things to make.
