I am self taught, I read a lot and watch quilting shows on TV.
I have been quilting for 40+ years.
Rotary cutters and great rulers have been a real plus for quilters.
I love making scrap quilts. After buying my machine embroidery
machine I have been making more baby/lab quilts. The design
pkgs. make such cute quilts.

Me also....and I love love love watching Eleanor Burns. She and Nancy Zieman are my favorite video teachers. I have all of Eleanor's books and some cd's. She has taught me a lot even though we have never met. Her current block party is too fun and I am sewing along with her all this year. Check out her web site for a link to the videos of her current season. It is free to watch but be warned it is a bandwith hog so you had better have a good internet connection...sorry no dial up.
I absolutely love Elenor Burns too. I took quilting classes, but didn't have a very good teacher, so now I am self taught along with this board and videos.

I am self taught but have taken a class or two years after I started quilting. The classes is mostly to get the pattern and just to take the class.

Well, I have taken one class, but for the most part I am self-taught. But to say that is also misleading, because I learned a lot of the basics of garment sewing from my mom and 4-H and home ec. class. But since I became an adult and started sewing more complex projects and quilting I've learned mostly from books and the internet. One friend did teach me paper piecing.

I am self taught all the way, I keep telling myself that I ought to take a class, but that may interfere with people that I am teaching. lol

I had watched a show on quilting about 12 years ago and just about 4 years ago I picked up some fabric and the pattern that went with it from walmart and went from there, it was the one with the moose, deer wolves and sucks on it, my husband is a hunter and I didn't know what else to do for him for Christmas. It turned out well and I managed to get three more done for my kids for the same Christmas,

Self taught. I have taken a few classes but find I like figuring things out myself or seeking help from this board. It doesn't get any better than the ladies or the knowledge found here. I am so thankful!
