Same here, but if I am working on really small projects I will change the needle a little less frequently.

aren't these the same as the embroidery needles? I have some for embroidery because I was told they can handle the higher stress of the fast stitching. I'll have to try one for regular piecing.

I've started using the "quilting" needles and they seem to work better too. They're very sharp and works great on batiks.

I change them when they break.

My machine forces me to. It gives me an error message on my display screen and stops sewing every few stitches.

I change my needle after every project, but then I clean my sewing room after every project is cut and put together. I am kinda anal that way. I cannot work or sew in a mess. Sorry.

Only when it breaks. Someday I'm going to make list of all the things I've learned from the Board. The neatest is clipping the corners before washing fabric. I washed over 30 yards yesterday, hung them to dry, and no tangles.

Same here. When the pop sound starts it's time to pop another one in.

I had been sewing for almost 15 years before I found out you were supposed to change them more often then when they break.

I change them after every project now, except specialty needles that don't get used much. If I project is small, I put them back in the case to be used again.

I also don't use universal as much as I used to. Now I use the needle right for the job.

I buy them when Joann's has half-off notions. I definitely don't pay full price for needles!
