I fell in love with some yellow eyelet fabric (cotton) from Joanns. I have washed it and want to use is in a quilt and a table runner, but is has holes.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what/how to back it so the batting does not poke through.

Layer it over a light fabric

Yes, put it over a solid fabric that is about the same shade as the eyelet. Or, even put your yellow eyelet over a nice bright white muslin.
