Default HST gamechanger!

A friend sent me the link to 'How to make Accordion HST's' and it is too good to keep to myself. Here is the link to the first of 3 YouTube videos. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...oHz8zRwNiyxncw

I had only one problem with the technique--my quarter inch foot sews to the left of a line while the demonstrator sewed to the right of the line. So I had to do everything backwards. But it does work! Definitely worth checking out.

I have been doing this for a very long time. I recently got an Accuquilt system and I still haven't mastered HST's this way. But I am working on it. I always have my go to method if I need it.

Interesting -- thanks for sharing! I wonder how she knows where to sew if she hasn't drawn the line. I might try it if I didn't have to draw the lines.

I took a piece of painters tape and laid it on the 1/4 inch marking on my sewing machine bed. I did draw a line on the first one, but after that, just lined up the points with the painters tape.

Thanks GingerK for sharing this!
As you said, this could be a game changer, at times.
I was looking at a HST pattern the other day, and I can see doing this as an endless Leader/Ender project til I had miles of them together. Enough to make a quilt?

CashsMom ... I'm like you, and see the lines as a necessity to keep things in line (pun intended!) Though I noticed the different colours, straight and angled on her clear table. I think that would help us all go lineless and not even need GingerK's painter tape method. Bad me ... I have been known to take a sharpie and actually draw a line on my sewing machine bed! (mostly I have done that after I put some protective tape down )

There are a few products available that would keep a person from resorting to tapes and sharpies (altho a bit more expensive . Here's a link to the one that I have. http://www.everythingquilts.com/brow...er-2-Tool.html My only criticism is that I have to partially remove it to change my bobbin.

You don't know about Diagonal Seam tape? I cut it to fit my bobbin plate so no hassle. It's wonderful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9UoRUp-a9w
