Just finishing up our day at Paducah. Overall it was a mixed bag. The Quilt Museum was wonderful, beautiful quilts, the ladies there are so nice. Sadly one of the exhibit halls was closed because they were changing the exhibit but well worth the trip. Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day shop was great. The girls there were very welcoming and helped me find everything. The girl doing the cutting even gave an extra inch or so on her cuts. Great prices on the fabric I bought -- $4 and $5 per yard plus 30% off. Hancocks was a bit disappointing. I thought the whole store was about quilting but really only about half. Very little fabric under $9 and very difficult to get anyone to help me. I was going to walk from the museum to other shops but passed 3 or 4 that were out of business. Had a great time all in all.

Hancocks of Paducah is not connected with Hancock Fabrics at all and their prices, I think, are REALLY high. Glad you had a good time at the other places though.

Hancocks of Paducah has about every fabric line that I know of but not discount prices at all. I only go there during the quilt show. It's just fun to be in there when it's full to bursting with quilters! Eleanor Burns shop is very nice but too crowded during the show! Imagine 100 people in there at a time. The tent sales are not crowded and it's fun to be in that crowd.

I've always found the best deals at Quilt in a Day!!! I enjoyed looking at the riverwalk murals and reading all about the history of Paducah. The small shops are quaint and I'm sorry some of them were closed. The economy is hitting everyone hard. Hancock's is ok, it's just the experience to say that you've been there. The Quilt Museum is awesome, whether there for the Big Event or any other time.

I went a couple years ago when the quilt show was on. I thought they were pretty high also. I was surprised because I'd heard so much about them. I can't buy fabric that is that expensive. I'm perfectly happy with fabric from WalMart and Joann's. I don't buy the cheapest but I don't buy the expensive stuff either.

I do lots of my fabric at Hancock's of P, but I get them during the show (on sale). I go there one other time each year when my cousin comes to visit. She likes to go there to shop and she does not sew! We make something together each year while she is here visiting.
