I had to have a back to school door hanging
Since I am a teacher, I really wanted to come up with a back-to-school door hanging for my front door at home. When I think of school, I tend to flash back to my elementary days with Sally, Dick and Jane, where I learned to read. Unfortunately, we no longer use Sally, Dick and Jane to teach reading, but personally, I miss them. So, this is what I came up with. To bring them into the 21st century, I had to add some bling.
Does anyone else remember Sally, Dick and Jane?

Love your door hanging! Not only do I remember them fondly, I think children today should still be using them to learn to read. Children respond well to repeated phrases and words. The children book authors understand this principle and use it to their advantage.

I feel the same way. Look, we learned to read, even if the people in our families weren't named Sally, Dick or Jane. Our books now have to be politically correct, everyone must be able to relate to them and they should be exciting. That's crazy. Let's just learn how to read. This is one of my pet peeves.

Love this fabric! We had 'Janet and John' (no little sister), but I'm sure the dog was called Spot too. I grew up on a diet of Enid Blyton books and somehow managed to survive the experience, lol.
