I have read previous postings about quilt labels and how you make them. Several people have said that they use pigma pens to mark their labels. Is there a certain way to set the ink after you use them? I used pigma pens on the labels I put on several quilts and after a few washings the ink has faded. Now I have to go back and redo the labels. Any suggestions?

I bought a pen that just said it was for writing on fabric. After I wrote them out, I ironed the label to make sure it would stay. A couple of my quilts have been washed and I looked at the label later, and it was fine.

The pen does not show a brand name, but just says Permanent Fabric Marking Pen Japan. I think I got it at JoAnn's.

Thanks. I looked on the Joann's web site and found a few that look like they might work. I guess the only thing to do now is experiment.

I think the ironing with a hot iron is the key. It seems to set the ink.

Ruth I have a book of labels like that but haven't tried them yet. Are yours black and white and you color them?

Have you had any problems with the pigma ink "glopping" up. It seem I read on one of the threads some time back that the pigma ink glops up and makes for a messy job. I haven't bought a pigma pen for that reasonl Have any of you had problems with the pigma ink?

In "95 (on my first quilt) I used a regular permanent Sharpie (new, so the tip would be really sharp). I've washed that little quilt so many times and the writing on the back is still there -- perhaps not as dark, but still very visible.
