I have been working on this quilt for a long time. A lot of the blocks are just what I made up as I went. I love to embroidery with my machine and I love iris. I call this Crazy about Iris. I would apreciate ides for borders. The dark purple on the sides is piping that I added. It matches the dark purple thread I used on the iris.

I think a lattice border to bring out all yur 3D work would be nice. Lovely job Mary. You're very talented!

I think that a simple green 3" boader and a thinner 1 1/2" inner boarder next to the pipping in white would look wonderful.

Agree it is a stunning quilt. I would go for a double border of blue and green. Simple ones that aren't too wide. To frame the whole project.

    Great work!

i vote no border. more often than not they take away from a quilt design like you have. it is simply beautiful. also, if you sew the binding on like normal, but bring ALL of it to the back and sew it down, i think it would look really good. i've done a few like that and it will work with your quilt. think about it.

Absolutely beautiful. I love the embroidery and fabric manipulation. I also really like borders, I think they frame the quilt. I would go with just a narrow green border, maybe about 3 or 4 times the width of the piping, then also bind it in the green.

I love the pinks and blues and purples in your quilt. I would do a thin (3/4 - 1") in one of these but a shade darker than what's in the quilt. Then a 2-3" border of any of the main fabrics of the quilt.(like the batik) I would do the binding in the same fabric as the outer border.
