I'll have to make one of these. Will do sew as soon as I find the ironing board type of fabric. It'd be nice to take to class and when you travel.

I'm in a hurry to head out...so can't do research, but when you mention "flat bag", i'm thinking LapTop computer bag. I've seen patterns for those that may work for what you're talking about.

What an excellent idea!!! Taking the iron there is never a problem...it's getting the hot iron home that makes for a challenge of where to put it in the van!!! I will definitely be making one as well.

Here are pics of one that I made recently - flat ironing surface, folds up to look like a bag and has pocket in front for portable iron? Is that what you're looking for? Have mislaid insructions for now!!

Try again with pics!! Sorry about that. I traced my pattern back to America Quilts Creatively, Husqvarna & Pfaff sponsored site with many patterns; go to Episode 2610 which is on window valances but scroll down a few pages and there are the instructions at the bottom of that episode.
I also have another one from Embroidery Garden-Ironing Board Caddy quite different.
