Okay so I rarely go fabric shopping without my quilting friend (who was at work today and I wasn't) I measured my completed quilt, decided how much fabric I needed, drove to JoAnns, causually looked at all the fabric holding my swatches til I found my match, went to the cutting counter, bought my fabric, drove home.....And shock!!!! I didn't buy enough to piece the backing, uugghhh!!!! This is why I should NOT buy my fabric alone. This is not my first offense. If quilt police existed this is what I would need help with. I'm classic for buying too much fabric for the tops but then not enough for the backs. Now I will have to go shopping again, you know some more fabric will hitch a ride home with me.

I think you do it on purpose so you have a reason to go back and get more fabric  LOL

Calculating the backing throws me off at times too... I just automatically add a yard on and have leftovers for my stash :D:D:D

I went for backing fabric today too. I asked one of the girls at the quilt shop for the cheapest way to go. Wide quilt backing! It's 108 inches wide so no piecing necessary. And it was on sale for 9.59 a yard - only needed two yards.

Wide backs probably would be easier, I should just stock up on some to keep for days like this.

If you have extra blocks, peice them into the back to make it big enough. That's what i did with this one.
