It will be beautiful. I made a wack and stack fan pattern quilt with oriental fabric and I love it. Hope you like yours when finished.

I know, zero UFOs...how does that happen, right?? Actually, it's mostly because all I've done so far was a pile of quilts for Christmas gifts - 17 quilts in 8 months! - and then a simple scrappy out of the leftovers from all those quilts. Oh and I tried a flannel rag quilt, which I'm not sure I like. It's done...just not as thrilled with it as I'd hoped.

Funny that you and a couple others said that the assembly of the OBW was the easy part - for me that was the real pain! I hate pressing seams open and usually just don't, but with these quilts I think it's mandatory. Is this why people have kids? So they can be ironing minions? LOL I kinda liked the cutting and calculating, but the figuring-out part of designing a quilt is one of my favorite parts. Final layout was a pain but I made a bad fabric choice for my first OBW - I used a gorgeous panel but it had very little gradiation of colors so I had a hard time making it blend. I think layout for this one will be a lot easier and more fun to do.

Neat!! Any pics? I'd love to see 'em.

Sounds like this is a popular fabric! I actually bought the whole bolt - partially because I wasn't sure exactly how much I'd need, and also because I wanted leftovers! But there were still 2 more bolts of it left behind...a couple of you said your Joann's was out - I'm pretty sure you can still buy it online. I "borrowed" the picture off of their site so I know it was still listed a day ago! The store might be able to order more too.

I'm excited to be putting something into the fair. I have absolutely no idea how critically the quilts are judged - if it's judged by real quilt critics I probably won't win anything; my bindings are always a little screwed up and I don't follow a lot of "rules". But I really don't care about getting a ribbon - it'd be nice if I did but I'm doing it for the experience, and to make myself put myself out there on display a little bit. This will be the first time I've ever entered anything into anything like this even though I've considered myself an artist for years and have had lots of encouragement about my work. So I decided to break the ice with a quilt as a personal growth sort of thing. *I* will win no matter what! But of course I want to do my best and create a quilt I will be proud of when people I know see it.

And of course I will post pictures! It'll be awhile though, today is (hopefully) the last day of flooring installation, then I can empty my sewing room and redo IT! I have two new tables and a whole bunch of new storage to go in there; I can't wait!

I just finally got around to uploading and posting a bunch of pics of the quilts I made for Christmas; here's one of the first (and so far, only) OBW I did for my sister. I had pics of it up before when it was in progress, asking for layout help, so some of you might recognize it...here's how it finally came out!

The panel I used (this is the back of the quilt):

And...one of my favorite blocks;
